I’ve been watching “True Detective: Night Country.” I really like it. The stark, threatening, looming atmosphere sends chills down my spine. What killed the scientists? Is just me or is there an undertone of John Carpenter’s “The Thing?” The characters are deeply, darkly human. Even the good “guys” are dark. I like the interplay of paranormal and police procedural.

Just finished reading Ninth House. Great gothic vibes. The combination of magic and real world danger is fantastic. I love the main character. She is a survivor. Not necessarily good or bad. She’s just a person trying to make it through the world where everything is stacked against her. I hope the sequel, Hell Bent, is as good. I’ve downloaded it to read this week.
